Police in Parow, Cape Town, followed up on a tip-off and seized abalone worth R804 000 as well as an illegal firearm.
“On Thursday afternoon, members of the Anti-Gang Unit reacted on a tip-off about an unlicensed firearm and abalone at a residence in Parow.
“Upon their arrival, a suspect fled the premises in a silver Polo and evaded arrest,” said Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut.
Suspect at Parow house being sought
The residence was searched which led to the discovery of a 6.35 Baby Browning and one round of ammunition.
“Abalone valued at around R804 000-00 was also seized,” he said.
“The circumstances surrounding the discovery are being investigated.”
The suspect who fled is also now being sought by police.
