The suspect in the killing of 20-year-old Amieroodien Noordien handed himself over to police on Thursday.
The shooting happened on the 5th of October in Hanover Park, Cape Town.
There had been a public outcry over Amieroodien Noordien’s death.
Consequently, according to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, the suspect handed himself in after feeling pressure from police.
He said that police officers were hot in his pursuit since the fatal shooting and he decided to hand himself over at the Philippi police station earlier on Thursday.
“The 21 year old man will appear in court in Wynberg on Monday,” he said.
“He will face a charge of murder.”
Lt Col Traut said that the circumstances surrounding the case are still under investigation.
“We are not ruling out the possibility that the suspect could be charged with more violent crimes.”
