Manenberg police arrested a 33-year-old woman for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition on Thursday.
“Members from the Anti-Gang Unit were out making sure the communities are safe,” explained police spokesperson, Sgt Noloyiso Rwexana.
“On Thursday, at about 09:35, members followed up on the information they received about an illegal firearm at an address in Yusuf Dadoo Street, Tambo Square, Manenberg.
Police searched the premises and found a CZ 75 9mm pistol and eight rounds of ammunition.
“A 33-year-old woman was arrested for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.”
Consequently, the Manenberg woman is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court once she has been charged.
