Overstrand Municipality appeals for donations for Betty’s Bay

Since the start of the Overstrand fires, help in all forms, shapes and sizes has flooded in from people donating clothes, blankets, bottled water, food, monetary donations as well as their valuable time.

“Thank you for your extraordinary generosity in donating to those affected by the fire. No more donations of food or goods (clothing and blankets etc) are needed at this stage,” said Overstrand Municipality spokesperson, Riana Steenekamp.

Appeal for donations from Betty’s Bay residents

“A request has moreover been received from the Betty’s Bay Community for the donation of cleaning products to assist those fire victims who sustained soot damage to their homes.”

She said that donations to this effect can be delivered to the Crassula Hall in Betty’s Bay between 09h00 and 12h00 today, Friday 25 January 2019.

“Anyone wishing to make donations of cleaning items thereafter can contact Liz Cartwright on 074-141-7600, and she will advise on a delivery point at a later stage,” she added.

“Donations can also be delivered to the Hermanus Fire & Rescue & Disaster Management offices in 14 Mussel Road, Hermanus Industrial Area. They are open 24 hours per day.”
