Suspects arrested with drugs in Mitchell’s Plain

Endeavours to fight the scourge of gangsterism and crimes associated with gangs are proving to be successful in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town.

On Friday night, members of the Provincial Reaction Team conducted search operations in Mitchells Plain. They had received information on drugs from the public.

According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, they first visited a house along Wemmershoek Street, Tafelsig.

Mitchell’s Plain arrests

“A 40-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of dagga, mandrax and 51 rounds of ammunition,” he said.

“From there, the Team also proceeded to Buffalo Street, Tafelsig. There, a 38-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an assortment of drugs comprising woonga and tik.”

Lt Col Traut said a total cash amount of R10 000, believed to be the proceeds of drug trafficking was also confiscated.

“A Toyota Hilux LDV stolen in Nyanga earlier this month was also recovered and seized,” he added.

“Both suspects are due to make court appearances on Monday in Mitchells Plain.”
