Airports Company South Africa’s George Airport will host an Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) workshop that is part of a broader roadshow to be hosted at regional airports.
The ESD workshop will be hosted on Monday, 12 November 2018 at the George Arts Theatre on York Street. Registration opens at 08h30 and the workshop will conclude around 15:00.
Those attending the workshop for George Airport will be briefed on ACSA’s transformation agenda, its implementation and implications on the company and its suppliers.
The public will also be able to find out more about business opportunities for emerging black-owned businesses at airports and the supplier selection criteria.
Senior corporate affairs manager for regional airports, Senzeni Ndebele said: “At ACSA we have a moral imperative to promote equality and to contribute towards correcting the imbalances of the past by ensuring that we align our business to reflect the demographics of South Africa towards economic equality.
“The ESD workshops we are hosting at regional airports form part of our ongoing business objectives to assist people living below the poverty line to be part of the mainstream economy in the regions where our airports are based.”
ESD refers to the financial and non-financial support that ACSA provides to SMMEs to enhance their economic participation, stimulate job creation and encourage corporates to engage in meaningful transformation. It also includes procurement from these SMMEs to help them grow.
The ESD workshops are open to all South Africans who do business in the aviation sector and industries related to operating and managing airports. However, there is a responsibility on those doing business with ACSA to contribute towards and align with the company’s broader transformation objectives.
Airports Company South Africa will brief the public on supply chain management rules and processes. The brief is on how transformation is to be achieved through procuring; how airports source goods and services including details on procurement processes and sub-contracting.
