Donations received for Overstrand fire victims

The Gill St Street Watch and the Rotary Club of Newlands, in partnership with the Hermanus Rotary Club, responded to an appeal from the Overstrand Municipality for donations to help those affected by the recent fires.

According to Overstrand Municipality spokesperson, Riana Steenkamp, the Rotary Club of Newlands, in partnership with the Hermanus Rotary Club, donated several boxes of clothing and toys to the Overstrand Municipality’s Fire and Rescue & Disaster Management offices situated in Hermanus.

“The generous support of valuable organisations like the Rotary Club, makes it possible to provide relief goods to residents affected by the recent fires,” she said.

Donations also received from Gill St Watch

Steenkamp said that the municipality was also grateful to the Gill St Street Watch, part of Table View Neighbourhood Watch, who collected donations of clothing and cosmetics for those affected by the fires in the Overstrand area.

“Graham Grobbelaar delivered the contribution and handed it over to Overstrand Municipality’s Disaster Management Team on Friday morning.”
